386097_4172281581491_1886242845_nI have always been active; hiking, backpacking, alpine touring, and ski mountaineering. I joined a group backcountry athletes called http://www.turns-all-year.com/; and being an active member requires me to hike and ski every month of the year. Some months are harder than others! In the summer, I have to hike through overgrown brush (what is commonly called “bushwhacking”), tentatively cross swelling creeks, scale precarious boulder fields and fight determined mosquitos to find any patch of snow that will give me a good solid turn or two.

I needed to find a weekday workout program that could help me keep this up! I tried P90X and long-distance running. This was all fine and good, but I had no other athletes to work out with, nor any way of really measuring my progress. I also wasn’t pushing myself very hard. I had heard of Crossfit before; a number of good friends have been involved with Crossfit over the years and have encouraged me to try it out. My boyfriend Mac had also expressed an interest in trying Crossfit, and discovered LWCF while looking at gyms in our area.

Since joining, I have noticed a difference in my skiing and in my endurance. I have met strong athletes who encourage me during every work out. I have learned new skills and am continuously learning how to improve what I thought I knew! I am genuinely excited to go to the gym. Thank you LWCF!
